Eyesports Lenses

What lens material do you use?

Predominantly, we use 100% impact-resistant polycarbonate. We also sometimes use trivex, which is also 100% impact-resistant.

Where are your lenses from?

Nearly all our lenses are sourced through Essilor. Essilor is the largest spectacle lens manufacturer in the world.

Do you use standard plastic?

No, even though it is cheaper, standard plastic should never be used for sports eyewear, as it is particularly brittle and will break with the smallest of impacts.

How sturdy are prescription lenses in an event of an accident/fall?

As all our lenses are made in Polycarbonate or Trivex, they are 100% impact-resistant. We do not use standard plastic, as these are very unsafe for sporting applications.

Are different lens types available?

Yes, we can do single-vision, multifocal and also bifocal, depending on the product requested. Just give us a call if you don’t see what you’re after on the website.

I'm not sure if I should get Multifocal or Single Vision, can you help me decide?

If you have a near add in your prescription, or are over 45 years of age, this is an indicator that you may have trouble reading/viewing close-up objects if you choose single vision distance lenses.

What you plan on using your new prescription glasses for will help to decide on what lenses to chose. If the activity involves reading a book, phone, watch, diving meter, etc. you would benefit from multifocals.

Multifocals can be difficult to wear for activities that involve looking through the bottom of the lens (skiing, motocross, soccer) as looking through the reading section will blur your distance vision.

Is there a lens suitable for very wet/humid conditions?

Yes, we can do single-vision, multifocal and also bifocal, depending on the product requested. Just give us a call if you don’t see what you’re after on the website.

I ride in high and in low light conditions, is there a lens that's suitable for both?

Yes, photochromatic lenses are the best solution for changing light conditions.

Ordering

Am I able to try the product on?

Yes, give us a call and we will send you out a trial pack of frames to try on. There will be a cost involved and we will need to keep your credit card details as security for the product/s

Please note that we do not provide the try-on service for ready made swimming goggles and a few other products

Can I use my existing goggles for prescription lens inserts?

Yes, you can. Please provide us with the model of your goggles and we will assess to make sure we have a suitable Rx adapter. Click here for more information about our prescription goggle inserts

I have tried goggle inserts before and they didn't work for me. Will these be the same?

We have designed our own prescription goggle insert. With our design, the prescription lenses stay very flat, which reduces ‘fish-bowl effect’, which is common in many prescription inserts on the market. Our adapter has been designed to suit modern-day goggles, to reduce the distance between your eyes and the prescription lens and to replicate your standard glasses (in frame wrap and pantoscopic tilt).  Click here for more information about our prescription goggle inserts

I have a high prescription, which frames/goggles are available for me?

We specialist in high prescriptions and we are rarely unable to fulfill the request. Our prescription inserts for goggles, we believe are the best for all prescriptions, but particularly high prescriptions, due to the way we have designed and manufactured these prescription inserts.

Previous patients that have been unable to wear other inserts on the market have and are enjoying fantastic vision that our inserts offer. Click here for more information about our prescription goggle inserts

What is a PD measurement?

A PD is a measurement of the distance between your pupils. This is an essential measurement, when making your prescription glasses/inserts. click here for more information on obtaining or measuring PD
